Mississippi executes condemned inmate Bishop who endorses Obama

PARCHMAN, Miss. (AP) — The youngest inmate executed in Mississippi in two decades urged death penalty opponents to vote for presidential candidate Barack Obama in order to end executions and apologized to the family of the victim in his final moments.

Dale Leo Bishop, 34, was put to death by lethal injection Wednesday for his role in the 1998 claw hammer bludgeoning of a friend.

Bishop's attorneys had argued his life should have been spared because he did not swing the hammer that killed Marcus James Gentry, 22. The courts were not persuaded.

Sorry, good friends, not this year,” he wrote in the Chicago Tribune.

Until a few years ago, they served together on the board of a local charity.

These were not scripted and pre-thought words, but were a spontaneous, honest answer to a query. Obama's words are a looking glass into his deepest thoughts.

We believe Obama was projecting his own beliefs on working, mainstream Americans. Since making the comments, he has been in retreat. Now, he says that anger and hope go together. Evidently, Barack Obama's message of hope is actually a brew including anger, bitterness and resentment. Are these the emotions lingering in his heart when he speaks of change?

Anomalous among Western leaders, the president of the United States serves as head of both state and government. Moreover, he is elected directly by the voters, unlike in a parliamentary system whereby a leader attains power through the success of his party. A president may disappoint after assuming office, but America is not in the habit of electing candidates who hold their country in contempt.

Just as Sen. Barack Obama sought to distance himself from controversial racial remarks made by his pastor, an anti-American government, anti-white and virulently anti-Semitic black supremacist party has endorsed the presidential candidate on Obama's own website.

"Obama will stir the 'Melting Pot' into a better 'Molten America,'" states an endorsement from the New Black Panther Party, or NBPP, which is a registered team member and blogger on Obama's "MyObama" campaign website.

The NBPP is a controversial black extremist party whose leaders are notorious for their racist statements and for leading anti-white activism.

Several video excerpts of Wright’s sermons were aired in which the Reverend called upon God to damn America (using the common distasteful colloquialism), strongly intimated that the United States “deserved” 9/11 as a consequence of its foreign policy, and made claims that ours is a nation controlled by “rich white people” who engineered the AIDS virus to kill blacks and markets narcotics to blacks in order to keep them incarcerated.

That individuals who subscribe to such insanity not only breed but vote is one of the most frightening concepts I can bring to mind at present.

It is a ready applause line for the Illinois presidential hopeful, one that he has been reciting almost verbatim since he was a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2004, when appliance giant Maytag was in the process of shutting a refrigerator plant here, putting 1,600 people out of work.

But the union that represented most of those Galesburg workers isn't impressed with Obama's advocacy. It has endorsed his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton. Its leaders say they wish he had done more about their members' plight.

What rankles some is what Obama didn't do even as he expressed solidarity four years ago with workers mounting a desperate fight to save their jobs.

Obama responded he was shocked to hear the profane anti-American and anti-white rhetoric delivered by his Rev. Jeremiah Wright and strongly objected to it.

The Nation has reportedly lost money in all but three or four years of its operation and is said to be sustained in large part by donations.

Obama responded with the classic phrases of a politician in trouble. "That was the information that I had at the time. . . . Those charges are completely unrelated to me. . . . I have said that that was a mistake. . . . The fact pattern remains unchanged."

The IRS is investigating the United Church of Christ over a speech Sen. Barack Obama gave at its national meeting last year after he became a candidate for president, the denomination said Tuesday.

Obama, an Illinois Democrat, belongs to the 1.2 million-member Protestant group through his Chicago congregation.

In a letter the denomination received Monday, the IRS said "reasonable belief exists" that the circumstances surrounding the speech violated restrictions on political activity for tax-exempt organizations. The denomination has denied any wrongdoing.

Sen. Barack Obama has spoken at fundraisers for Palestinians living in what the United Nations terms refugee camps, WND has learned.

Palestinians have long demanded the "right of return" for millions of "refugees," a formula Israeli officials across the political spectrum warn is code for Israel's destruction by flooding the Jewish state with millions of Muslim Arabs, thereby changing its demographics.

In a conference call last month with Jewish and Israeli media aimed primarily at dispelling Internet reports he is anti-Israel, Obama stated "Palestinian refugees" belong in their own state and do not have a "literal" right of return to Israel.
